NotebookLM, an innovative Google tool built on large language-model (LLM) technology, has just undergone a significant upgrade. The app now supports Polish, offers an advanced audio-summary feature and has debuted as a native mobile application for Android and iOS. This milestone in the platform’s development will make working with large information sets even easier. What is NotebookLM and what possibilities do the latest updates bring?
What is NotebookLM?
NotebookLM is an intelligent tool designed for analysing and organising source materials. Users can add PDF documents, website URLs, YouTube videos and text from the clipboard. Based on these materials, NotebookLM generates summaries, answers questions, suggests new avenues of analysis and can even create audio podcasts. Everything is powered by Gemini family language models—one of Google’s latest AI technologies.
Thanks to this, the tool supports users in many tasks, such as:
- Quick content summarisation – you receive clear abstracts of even very long and complex documents.
- Answering content-related questions – NotebookLM can point to specific passages relevant to your queries.
- Creating ideas, outlines and plans – perfect for writers, learners and researchers.
- Comparing data from different sources – the tool helps juxtapose information and build logical, coherent analyses.
- Generating guides, support materials and FAQs – use gathered sources to create your own educational or working materials.
NotebookLM is a digital assistant for anyone who works with large amounts of information—regardless of industry or skill level.
Polish-language support – the end of the language barrier
For Polish users, one of the most important novelties in NotebookLM is full Polish-language support. This covers both the interface and the analytical and generative functions. Users can now work freely in their native language—without relying on translators or foreign-language interfaces.
NotebookLM allows:
- Uploading and analysing materials in Polish – whether PDFs, web pages or your own texts.
- Asking questions and issuing commands in Polish – interaction with the AI is now more natural and intuitive.
- Generating answers and summaries in Polish – all outputs are fully comprehensible, logical and linguistically consistent.
- Listening to Polish audio summaries, even offline – ideal for people on the move or without internet access.
This is a huge step forward that removes the language barrier and opens the way to fully leveraging NotebookLM in education, research and everyday use.
NotebookLM as a mobile application
Previously available only as a web app, NotebookLM has been offered as a dedicated mobile application for Android (version 10+) and iOS (version 17+) since 20 May 2025. The mobile app delivers most browser features in a far more convenient form. With the mobile interface, users can comfortably work with documents and analyse sources anytime, anywhere.
The app is free in Google Play and the App Store and requires only a Google Account to run.
Intuitive navigation and user-friendly interface
The mobile version of NotebookLM provides a clear interface divided into three main sections: Sources, Chat and Studio. This lets users smoothly switch between browsing materials, chatting with AI and editing notes. The main screen also contains tabs—Recent, Shared, Title and Downloaded—for quick notebook and summary management.
Audio Overview – audio summaries on a new level
One of the most interesting enhancements is the expanded Audio Overview feature. NotebookLM can now create audio summaries from supplied materials that can be played offline and in the background—particularly useful when travelling, working out or with limited internet access.
Generated recordings are available in the “Downloads” tab, and their quality—both linguistic and substantive—is impressive. Importantly, users can ask questions about the content during playback, making the format not only informative but interactive.
Multiple-source support and impressive limits
NotebookLM supports diverse data formats—from website links and PDF files to clipboard text and YouTube videos. In the free version users can add up to 50 sources to one notebook, each containing up to 500 thousand words or 200 MB of data. The total word limit per notebook is an impressive 25 million.
The paid version—NotebookLM Plus or as part of Google One AI Premium—allows up to 300 sources and notebooks of up to 150 million words. This is ideal for advanced users working with enormous knowledge bases.
What’s next? Development plans and new features
Google announces continued development of NotebookLM. The web version already includes features such as mind-map creation and source exploration, which are set to appear soon in the mobile app. There are also plans to extend supported data types—for example to audio documents (e.g. MP3)—and to integrate with Google Drive and Slides.
Summary – who is NotebookLM for?
NotebookLM will appeal to anyone working with large volumes of information—regardless of sector. Students can use it to analyse study materials, journalists for research and podcast creation, and analysts to organise data from multiple sources.
With Polish-language support, audio functionality and mobile access, NotebookLM is becoming even more accessible and versatile. It is not just an AI assistant—it is a personal partner in information analysis.
